The Wolf Tree Turn is a breathtaking two-hour journey from the Willits Depot into the heart of Mendocino’s redwood country. Ride aboard a vintage diesel-electric train as it climbs to the summit of the Skunk Train’s line — elevation 1,740 feet — before descending into the misty depths of the Noyo River Canyon. Pass through Tunnel #2, carved through the mountain in the 19th century, and step off at Crowley to stand beneath the legendary Wolf Tree, a centuries-old redwood named for its sprawling branches.
