The *Veteran’s Train* is more than a journey — it’s a moving tribute to those who’ve served. Each November, Walkersville Southern Railroad honors the courage and commitment of our nation’s veterans with a scenic rail excursion through the rolling farmland and woodlands of Frederick County, Maryland. Guests travel past the historic Barricks Farm, established in the 1820s, and over the impressive Monocacy River bridge with sweeping mountain views. The ride lasts just over an hour, but the memories last a lifetime. Veterans ride for only $1 with proof of service, while families and supporters are welcome to share in this day of remembrance and appreciation. Choose between standard coaches or the elegant Southampton parlor car, complete with vintage tables and couches. All aboard for a celebration of service, history, and community.
Description
• Arrive 30 minutes early to check in at Walkersville Station. • Board your assigned coach or parlor car. • Depart for a 1-hour 10-minute round trip through the Maryland countryside. • Cross the Monocacy River and enjoy panoramic views of the Catoctin Mountains. • Return to Walkersville Station, where volunteers share stories of local history.
