Description

Step aboard the *Fraser Train*, the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad’s signature excursion and a must-do for anyone visiting central Iowa. Departing from Boone, this 1 hour 45-minute journey follows the route once used by coal miners and settlers, winding through forested hills and along the Des Moines River. The highlight is crossing two of Iowa’s engineering marvels — the towering 156-foot Bass Point Creek High Bridge and the long Des Moines River Bridge — offering sweeping views of the valley below. Choose your ideal ride: open-air car for fresh breezes, climate-controlled comfort, or the nostalgic charm of the caboose. With historic locomotives (including steam power on select Saturdays), it’s a beautiful blend of history, scenery, and classic Americana.
