Description
Journey through the high country of the American Southwest on the All Aboard Chama excursion — the signature full-day adventure of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Departing from the mountain town of Chama, New Mexico, this unforgettable ride climbs over 10,000 feet to the summit of Cumbres Pass, crosses the Continental Divide, and winds through Toltec Gorge before reaching Antonito, Colorado.
The route covers the entire 64 miles of this National Historic Landmark railroad — an authentic steam-powered line still operating much as it did in the 1880s. Watch the landscape transform from pine forests to high-country meadows and rugged canyons. Along the way, friendly docents share stories of the railroad’s history, frontier pioneers, and the wildlife that inhabits the San Juan Mountains.
At mid-journey, enjoy a hot lunch at scenic Osier Station, where both east- and west-bound trains meet high above the Rio de los Pinos Valley. Afterward, re-board your train to complete the trip to Antonito before returning to Chama via a comfortable motorcoach — ensuring you experience every mile of track.
Choose from three classes of service:
• Coach Class — The classic ride with padded bench seating and access to the open-air gondola for unobstructed photos.
• Deluxe Class — Café-style seating with extra space, complimentary snacks and beverages, and personal attendants.
• Parlor Class (Adults 21+ only) — Lounge-style comfort, continental breakfast, afternoon snack, unlimited drinks, and souvenir gift — a true Victorian-era rail experience.
From whistle to whistle, All Aboard Chama delivers the romance of railroading, the majesty of the mountains, and a full day of Western heritage you’ll never forget.
